With H/Advisors CV&A as co-sponsor, an independent and groundbreaking study entitled “Unlocking Portugal’s Growth: Structural Reforms and Political Economy Challenges” was developed by James A. Robinson, winner of the 2024 Nobel Prize in Economics and Professor at the University of Chicago, and Nuno Palma, Professor at the University of Manchester and author of “The Causes of Portugal’s Delay”. The study forms part of a joint initiative by CIP – Confederação Empresarial de Portugal – and IDL – Instituto Amaro da Costa.
The public presentation of the study took place on 30 July at the Museu do Oriente in Lisbon, bringing together more than 400 decision-makers and leaders from various sectors of Portuguese society, including members of the Government and the President of the Republic, António José Seguro.
In an increasingly complex and fast-paced global landscape, marked by geopolitical, economic and technological changes, this study identifies the main challenges constraining Portugal’s economic potential. Based on an in-depth analysis of the national situation, it presents proposals aimed at strengthening competitiveness and promoting sustained growth in our country.
